Don’t you mind if we read Hrant Dink together?
The provisions of Lausanne Protocol were not able to prevent the violation of the rights of Armenians on the territory of the Republic of Turkey… In the result of this out of 300,000 Armenians that lived there during the establishment of the Turkish Republic only 50-60 thousand have remained now… Today an ancient nation, having a history of four thousand years, maintains its existence as a small religious community with forty churches, seventeen schools, about a fifty vakifs (inalienable property), with more than twenty unions. And now Armenian minority living in Turkey is neither the minority decided by Lausanne, nor the citizen defined by the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey…”
Respectful Dink compares this period of reduction “with faulty water faucet” and explains that the Republic of Turkey adheres to this policy, regardless of political power in force; “Armenians, like other non-Muslim minorities were perceived as a permanent threat to national security…” This can be explained, and the explanation can be accepted, agreed upon… but what will change, will this help to repair the faulty faucet not to leak-percolate-decrease the rest… What if it ejaculated and finished, like itis happening to Armenians living in Syria under other circumstances, like can happen again with Armenians in Beirut? So how to repair the “faulty water faucet” and can we do this, take part in this, we who are the residents of Armenia with our today’s reality? How? By internationalizing the recognition of Genocide or regulating Armenian-Turkish interstate relations, establishing good neighborly relations?
